How To Update the IRobot Roomba Firmware

Updating the firmware of your Roomba guarantees smooth operation, enhances performance, and even introduces new functions. Fortunately, upgrading the software on your Roomba is a simple procedure, and iRobot distributes updates on a regular basis.

Here's how to update roomba firmware and accomplish it:

1. Establish Wi-Fi with the Roomba

  • Make sure the Wi-Fi is turned on for your Roomba. When linked to the iRobot HOME app, the majority of Wi-Fi-enabled models (including the Roomba i, s, j, and 900 series) automatically get software upgrades.

2. Launch the iRobot HOME App or install it.

  • On your smartphone, download and install the iRobot HOME app (available on iOS and Android). Open the app and confirm that your Roomba is connected to your account if you already have it.

3. Look for updates to the firmware.

  • Launch the app, then pick your Roomba.

  • If a software update is available, select Settings > About > Software Update.

  • Install any outstanding updates by following the instructions.

4. Updates that happen automatically

When the Roomba is on its Home Base and connected to Wi-Fi, it automatically updates by default. But be sure:

  • The gadget is charged and plugged in.

  • You have reliable Wi-Fi.

5. Restart the Roomba manually if necessary.

  • Try restarting your Roomba by holding down the CLEAN button for 10–20 seconds (depending on the model) if the update doesn't install. The update may be triggered in this way.

Last Verification

  • You may check the firmware version in the app under Settings > About after the update has been deployed.
